First thing in the morning, we went up the mast to fix the tricolor. Then picked up fishing gear, dropped off the rental car and we were ready to go!
Loaded up with 240 eggs, a freezer full of meat, fruit, veggies, canned this and that, 400 beers and 12L of alcohol we headed out. The destination today was Moorea. The winds and seas were super calm and were sailing upwind. It was so calm in fact that we had 2 glasses of water on the cockpit table for the entire sail which didn't move an inch.
Unfortunately, sailing upwind in light air with a loaded up catamaran is not the fastest. Speed through the water was 6 knots and velocity upwind was 3. We were at Moorea and anchored by sunset in 25ft deep turquoise water. No fish caught today although wildlife sighting included a turtle and a big jack fish that swam under the boat at night in front of a flashlight we hung.
The day ended with some fantastic pomplemousse margaritas!
Next destination: Tuamotus. We are heading out today and will be at sea for 1-2 days.
